Las Fallas is looming ..

With the advent of my full-on retirement at the end of February, March ushers in a new style of travel. I will be heading to Lisbon, Portugal, a country I have never visited before and then into Spain, via Seville, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona.  This will be the first time the whole of my accommodations are in hostels, having tried it last year in London, I’m hoping the coming trip will pan out just as favourably.

The other ‘change’ is that I will try to take in as many of the cultural festivals and events as I can on my travels, starting with a week in Valencia to enjoy the festivities surrounding Las Fallas. I am hoping future trips will allow me to attend other cultural events such as La Tomatina and ‘running of the bulls’ in Pamplona (although I should stress I am not planning on actually running!)

Las Fallas – Valencia

When I am in Barcelona I will of course be checking-in on one of my favourite buildings, La Sagrada Familia, to see how it is progressing towards its eventual completion.

I will of course be posting updates and photos on my travels and short reviews on the places I am staying and the best ways to get there. I try to travel as much as possible via train, so Seville to Madrid, Madrid to Valencia and Valencia to Barcelona will be via train, and I’ll let you know how that goes. Watch this space!
